How we began
App Summit Field started when founder Min-jae Han spent a weekend helping his aunt locate a backup drive among fourteen unmarked boxes in her Jung-gu apartment. The drive held scanned family records she needed for a hospital appointment on Monday. They found it at midnight — by opening every box — and Min-jae spent the next month developing a labeling method simple enough for his aunt to maintain without calling him each time.
Word spread through her apartment building’s community board. By 2014, Min-jae was visiting two or three households a week, labeling drives and assembling paper directories. He registered the business formally in 2012 under the name App Summit Field, a reference to the summit of Palgongsan where he first tested his indexing cards in a field notebook during a hiking trip.
What we believe
Physical records deserve the same care as digital ones — but without requiring a screen to find them. Our method uses plain language, durable materials, and conventions that a household member can continue after we leave.
We do not sell software subscriptions, cloud storage, or monitoring devices. Every deliverable is something you can hold: a label, a binder page, a location diagram.
Our team
Min-jae Han — Founder and lead labeling specialist. Twelve years cataloguing offline storage for Daegu households. Trained in archival science at Keimyung University (continuing education, 2015).
So-yeon Park — Directory designer. Prepares binder templates and maintains our label stock inventory. Previously worked in a university records office.
Ji-hoon Lee — Field assistant for visits requiring more than forty items. Handles inventory logging during sessions.
Working approach
We listen before we label. Every visit begins with understanding how you currently search for items and what has failed in the past — lost sticky notes, inconsistent folder names, a spreadsheet nobody updated.
We work at your pace. If you need to pause mid-session to check whether a box can be discarded, we wait. Labeling is only useful when you trust the descriptions.
We leave instructions behind. Each client receives a one-page maintenance guide explaining how to add new items to the directory using the same prefix system.
Community
We contribute indexing guides to the Daegu Public Library’s community workshop series twice a year and maintain a reference shelf of sample directories at our Jung-gu office for prospective clients to review before booking.
Visit us
Our office is open by appointment on weekdays. Walk-in visits are welcome on Wednesdays between 10:00 and 14:00, though labeling sessions are always scheduled separately at client premises.
